What is BWRT?
‘BWRT®’ stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®’, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI.
It’s a totally confidential method that doesn’t require you to reveal your private information or personal secrets to your therapist and is carried out in a completely conscious state. It doesn’t use hypnosis or any mystical concepts – it’s completely logical, practical and down-to-earth, and only needs you to know what you want to change in your life for it be completely successful.
Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code. Find out more at http://www.bwrt.org.
How does BWRT work?
‘How often have you asked “Why did I react like that? I didn’t mean to!”
We often find ourselves doing something we wish we weren’t – maybe reacting in a certain way or continuing a habit. We might be frightened of things or avoid things we’d really like to be able to do: from public speaking or going to the dentist, to flying or spiders. We can’t seem to stop our reaction or our fear no matter how hard we try.
That’s because our brain decides how we should react to a situation before we’re aware of it. By the time we’re conscious of it our brain has already started our response. And if it’s a response we don’t want it can be frustrating and upsetting.
The good news is that BWRT can change that reaction. Many other therapies work on managing your response once you’re conscious of it. BWRT is different. It deals with the problem at the point your brain first chooses a response – before you’re even aware of it.
You choose the response you’d prefer to have and BWRT quickly teaches it to your brain. Afterwards you find yourself reacting more appropriately and feeling better.
How is BWRT different to other therapies?
It’s fast: BWRT can work very quickly, often making a lasting change in just a single session.
It can be ‘content free’: you don’t have to talk about anything other than how you feel about the particular difficulty you are facing. You don’t even need to focus on that for very long. There’s no need to talk about anything you would rather keep private.
You are in control: you remain completely conscious throughout the therapy session and in control of choosing how you would like to respond.
