About
Rachel Proud
Being able to help people leave at the end of a session feeling happier and more confident, is why I’m a psychotherapist.
I wanted to be able to help people with their problems quickly which is why I decided to specialise in BWRT. It is much more effective than any other therapy I’ve seen and allows me to help people who otherwise might not be able to access therapy. It gets results quickly in a way that is kind and accessible.
I first came across BWRT while helping a friend struggling with severe anxiety. It had got to the point where it was difficult for her to leave the house but after just a few sessions of BWRT her anxiety fell away and she felt happier, calmer and more in control. The transformation was amazing.
I was so impressed I tried BWRT for my own fear of flying. Having unsuccessfully tried many methods to tackle it, after just one session I was able to fly without fear.
Having experienced its effectiveness for myself, I trained for a year with the creator of BWRT, Terence Watts. I had spent much of my previous 25 year career working with children and young adults and it was important to me to be able to help young people too so I undertook additional training in BWRT with children and adolescents.
I am a Registered BWRT Level 1 Practitioner, trained to work with adults and children. I also have a Masters degree in Linguistics from Oxford University and am fully neuro-affirming in my therapeutic approach.
I am based in Cambridge and work online with clients all over the UK.
Testimonials
Rachel is highly professional, caring and friendly. She is skilful at making you feel at ease. She explained what we were going to do very clearly and checked that I understood and felt OK with it. She is an excellent listener. I felt that I had truly been heard and that my feelings and responses were all valid. I was surprised and delighted with the results. After just one session, the situation that I had been struggling with for years is now so much better. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rachel.

Just one session with Rachel helped me overcome my fear of driving. I used to have nightmares about it, since a session with her I’ve even had a great dream about being a happy driver! It’s amazing how such a huge shift can be made in such a quick and effective manner!

What happens in a session?
I will listen to you and ask some questions about what has brought you to see me. With BWRT we don’t have to spend a long time dwelling on the causes of your problem. You only need to tell me about the particular difficulty you’re facing and you won’t even need to focus on that for very long. You won’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to and confidentiality is maintained.
I will explain fully how the process works. There’s no hypnosis and you’ll remain in control of choosing how you’d like to feel or respond. We’ll work together to help you feel better quickly.
Sessions are online via Google Meet video call and last around an hour. Online sessions save you the time and expense of travelling and mean you can be in familiar surroundings. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a place where you can speak in privacy.
How many sessions will I need?
Depending on your issue, a problem can often be resolved in one session. Many issues respond well to between one and four sessions, some may need more. BWRT is generally a very efficient therapy but as with all therapy, the number of sessions and level of success can vary from one person to another.
Contact me for a free no-obligation 20 minute initial consultation to chat through your issue and help you decide whether I am the right therapist for you.
